CHICAGO—The FBI continues to seek information from the public to help locate one suspect from a bank robbery team that struck a South Side bank on Christmas Eve, announced Michael J. Mr. Anderson also announced a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of this subject.

Damon A. Murphy is wanted in connection with the armed takeover robbery of the TCF Bank branch located at 223 West 87th Street in Chicago on December 24, 2015. According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court on December 30, 2015, two men entered that bank location at approximately 12:30 p.m., and one of the robbers pointed a gun at a bank employee and announced a robbery was taking place. The complaint states the robber then grabbed the bank employee by the arm and took the employee toward a door that accessed the secured area of the bank where money is stored. Another employee opened the door, and both robbers then entered the secured area, according to the complaint. After emptying multiple teller drawers, the pair fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No physical injuries were reported in connection with this robbery.

A co-defendant was charged with one count of bank robbery in a complaint filed on December 28. Murphy was charged with one count of bank robbery in a complaint filed on December 30, 2015. He remains at large. Murphy was identified to law enforcement by the public following media coverage of the robbery. Murphy is described as a male, black, 32 years old, 5’11” tall, weighing 240 pounds, and having a light complexion and brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
