Robert J. Holley, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) today announced that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a Chicago man charged in connection with a shooting that injured two young girls while they were playing in a neighborhood park on the Chicago’s northwest side.

Dionisio Gonzalez has been the subject of a national manhunt that is being coordinated by Chicago FBI since June 24, 2011, after being charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Gonzalez is wanted in connection with the June 8, 2011 shootings of two young girls in Avondale Park. The two girls—ages 2 years old and 7 years old at the time of the shooting—were playing in the park around 8 p.m. when shots were fired during an ongoing Chicago street gang dispute. The 2-year-old suffered a graze wound to the back of her head, and the 7-year-old was shot in the back. While Chicago police arrested the shooter a short time later, Gonzalez, suspected of being the driver of the getaway vehicle, was never apprehended. On June 14, 2011, he was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a handgun in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Gonzalez has not been seen in the Chicago area since the shooting on June 8, 2011, and is believed to have fled the area to avoid prosecution. In addition to his ties to Chicago, Gonzalez has relatives and associates in Florida.

Gonzalez is described as a Hispanic male, 35 years old, 5’8” tall, 135-160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is also known to have a mustache and/or a goatee. Additionally, Gonzalez has four unique tattoos: the first one located on his chest reads “DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR,” the second located on his left arm says “MANIAC,” the third located on his left forearm reads “LIL DIO,” and the fourth one located on his back says “LOGAN” and includes the image of a gun. His last known address was 3029 West Belden Ave in Chicago.

The search for Gonzalez is being coordinated by the Chicago FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which is composed of FBI special agents, detectives from the Chicago Police Department, and investigators from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police. Anyone recognizing Gonzalez or having any information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700 or your nearest law enforcement agency. Gonzalez should be considered armed and dangerous.

The public is reminded that a complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
