CHICAGO—The FBI is requesting assistance from the public in identifying a man believed to be responsible for at least four recent bank robberies that occurred in three states. Robert J. Holley, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, made the request today as he announced that a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the robber.

The robber, dubbed the Wandering Bandit because of the distance between heist locations, most recently struck at the Heartland Bank located at 12101 Regency Square Parkway in Huntley, Illinois last Friday. The string of robberies began in Peotone, Illinois on February 24 at the First Community Bank and Trust located at 650 West Wilmington Road. The next two occurred in Roselawn, Indiana on April 4 and in Diamondhead, Mississippi on April 10.

On each occasion, a man described as being white or Hispanic with an olive skin tone, approximately 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, and estimated to be in his 20s or early 30s, has approached a bank teller and presented a note and/or made verbal demands for money. He has worn a variety of hats, including a straw cowboy hat on one occasion, and he has been seen driving a gray or silver late model Honda Accord. The robber has not displayed or implied a weapon to date, and no injuries have occurred in connection with the robberies.
