CHICAGO—Robert J. Holley, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the FBI, announced today that a reward is offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of a serial bank robber the FBI has dubbed the Mug Shot Bandit. The Mug Shot Bandit, pictured in the attached flyer, earned his moniker by unwittingly providing very clear surveillance photographs. He is suspected in at least four recent heists in south and southwest suburban locations, and the FBI is offering up to $1,000 to anyone who comes forward with information about his identity or whereabouts.

The Mug Shot Bandit’s spree began on Nov. 19, 2014, at a TCF Bank branch located at 17117 S. Harlem in Tinley Park, Ill. On that date, a robber entered the bank, made a threatening demand for money from a bank employee, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. This robber is suspected of carrying out at least three other robberies in a similar manner, at the Old Second National Bank in Chicago Heights, Ill., on Nov. 20; a TCF Bank branch, also in Chicago Heights, on Dec. 4; and at a Fifth Third Bank branch in Lockport, Ill., on Dec. 17.

Anyone recognizing the Mug Shot Bandit or having any information about the robberies is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or local police. This case is being investigated by the FBI in coordination with local authorities.
