Robbery of U.S. Bank Branch in Oak Park

FBI Chicago September 13, 2011
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

On 9/12/2011, the U.S. Bank branch located at 11 West Madison, Oak Park, Illinois, was robbed by a lone black male. He entered the bank around 5:00 p.m., approached the teller counter, handed the teller a note announcing a robbery, and verbally threatened harm if his demands for cash were not met. The robber was carrying a large bag which he claims contained a bomb. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled the bank on foot, heading west. He was described as being in his 20s, medium to large build, wearing dark clothing, a baseball-style cap, and sunglasses. No injuries were reported as a result of this robbery.

Below are surveillance photos from the robbery. Anyone having any information regarding this individual or of the bank robbery is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312/421-6700 or any local law enforcement agency.
