FBI Fugitive Captured in Atlanta

A man who fled North Carolina after being charged in connection with an investment scheme was captured today in Atlanta, Georgia. An arrest warrant for Ronald McCullough for conspiracy, wire fraud, mail fraud, engaging in unlawful monetary transactions, and aiding and abetting was issued by the Eastern District of North Carolina in July 2013. The FBI believed he may have been living in the Atlanta area, followed a variety of investigative leads, and also launched a publicity campaign last month offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his location and arrest.

McCullough was taken into custody by FBI special agents from the Atlanta Division at the Perimeter Mall in Atlanta at approximately 1:15 p.m. on July 12, 2016. He had attempted to disguise his appearance but admitted his true identity to the FBI special agents. McCullough is being held at the Atlanta City Detention Center and will have a first appearance tomorrow in federal court in the Northern District of Georgia.
