FBI Increases Reward in Armored Car Robbery and Shooting
The FBI Charlotte Division has increased the reward to identify the person who shot and robbed a Loomis employee outside an ATM on Fairview Road in the Foxcroft Shopping Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, on January 23, 2012. The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the identification and successful prosecution of the person responsible.
FBI agents and task force officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have been actively investigating and following leads since the crime occurred. “We realize that this happened three years ago, but for the victim, her family, and the agents who have been working this case, it seems like yesterday. We are dedicated to finding the individual who demonstrated no regard for his victim and shot her for the purpose of getting instant cash. I ask the public to think back to this time three years ago to anyone they know who may have demonstrated that they came into a sudden windfall of money. No amount of information is too small for us to follow up on to help solve this case and bring the victim closure,” said John Strong, Special Agent in Charge.
We do have evidence that we cannot discuss in detail, but at this time it has not led to an arrest. We hope the public can provide us that one key piece of information to pull it all together. The FBI is confident someone out there knows who is responsible for this crime and will do the right thing and call us.
Witnesses described the robber as 20-25 years old with a small build. While initial reports identified the suspect as a black male; at this time, agents are not 100 percent certain whether the subject is a male or a female or the person’s race. The robber was heavily disguised wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black T-shirt, grey sweatpants, black Nike shoes with a white Nike swoosh emblem and dark soles, a light or beige colored fingerless glove, and a baseball cap with a silver sticker on the brim.
The suspect was captured on surveillance video and is featured on a wanted poster (links available at the conclusion of this release).
