Serial Bank Robbery Suspect Identified

The Charlotte Division of the FBI, the Asheville Police Department, and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office are seeking assistance to locate a serial bank robbery suspect. Currently there are three outstanding arrest warrants for Clyde Allen Nixon (born September 14, 1951).

Nixon is believed to be responsible for robberies at:

Wells Fargo: 900 Smokey Park Highway, Asheville, North Carolina, on February 9, 2012;
RBC Centura: 1007 Smokey Park Highway, Buncombe County, North Carolina, on February 24, 2012;
First Citizens Bank: 1375 Patton Avenue, Asheville, North Carolina, on March 20, 2012; and
First Bank: 6 Dogwood Road, Candler, North Carolina, on March 30, 2012.

Nixon has friends and family throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. He has recently been seen in Buncombe, Carteret, Cleveland, Craven, Gaston, and Mecklenburg Counties in North Carolina. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information about Clyde Allen Nixon, call the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-255-5050 or the Charlotte Division of the FBI at 704-672-6100. If you see Nixon, do not try to approach him; instead, call 911.
