FBI Announces $10,000 Reward Offer in Rochester

Today, Adam S. Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Buffalo Division, announces a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the attempted robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, and attempted murder that occurred in the Town of Gates, New York, on October 21, 2015.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., the male suspect attempted to rob a business on Chili Avenue in the Town of Gates. A short time later, he carjacked, robbed, and kidnapped an elderly woman in the Town of Gates. The suspect then drove the woman in her vehicle to Flint Street in the City of Rochester and threw her into the Genesee River.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’7’-5’10” in height, and between 20-30 years of age. At the time of the carjacking, the suspect wore a black “Dickies” jacket, black pants, and black hat, and he was armed with a handgun.

This case is being investigated by the FBI Rochester Area Major Crimes Task Force (RAMCTF), which is composed of local, state, and federal agencies. The RAMCTF provides a comprehensive response to major crime investigations, such as armed robberies and homicides. Through the sharing of expertise and resources, the RAMCTF targets, disrupts, and dismantles criminal enterprises and violent street gangs.

The FBI RAMCTF partnership agencies include the New York State Police, Gates Police Department, Greece Police Department, and Irondequoit Police Department.
