BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced today that Mark Newman, 56, of Depew, NY, who was convicted of possession of child pornography, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 15 years supervised release by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who handled the case, stated that during this investigation, the Government determined that Newman engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse of a minor. In addition, on September 26, 2012, a search warrant was executed at the defendant's residence. Items seized from Newman’s residence that contained child pornography included a Toshiba laptop computer. A forensic analysis uncovered approximately 300 videos of child pornography stored on the computer. Some of the images depicted prepubescent minors or minors less than 12 years of age, as well as images of violence.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation on the part of Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
