Buffalo Man Indicted on Bank Robbery Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office January 21, 2011
  • Western District of New York (716) 843-5700

BUFFALO, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that a federal grand jury has returned an Indictment charging Philip A. Purdue, 32, of Buffalo, N.Y., with bank robbery, entry of a bank with intent to commit a larceny and bank larceny.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles B. Wydysh, who is handling the case, on October 5, 2010, Purdue robbed the Jamestown Savings Bank in Jamestown, NY. He remains at-large and is suspected of being in the Buffalo area. Purdue is also sought by the FBI and North Carolina authorities in connection with a November 22, 2010, bank robbery in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI at 716-856-7800.

The Indictment is the result of an investigation by the FBI, under the direction of James H. Robertson, and the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Harry Snellings.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
