Man Sentenced for Attempting to Board a Plane with a Gun

U.S. Attorney’s Office October 20, 2010
  • Western District of New York (716) 843-5700

ROCHESTER, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Louis Edwards, Jr., 40, of Horseheads, NY, was sentenced to two years’ probation and a $1,000 fine by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer after pleading guilty in June 2010 to carrying a weapon on an aircraft.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, who handled the case, stated that Edwards admitted that on October 30, 2009, he had attempted to board a flight at the Greater Rochester International Airport and was carrying a loaded firearm in his carry-on bag at the time. Edwards did not own the gun and did not carry any pistol permit to possess the gun.

The plea was the culmination of an investigation on the part of special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the direction of James Robertson, Special Agent in Charge.
