FBI Statement Regarding Shooting Incident

Special Agent in Charge Laurie J. Bennett, Buffalo Division, issued the following statement:
At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Buffalo FBI SWAT team and officers from the New York State Police, the Buffalo Police Department, and our Safe Streets Task Force were executing arrest and search warrants in east Buffalo. The suspect was arrested without incident on drug-related charges. During the subsequent execution of the search warrant, one of our Special Agent SWAT team members was injured in a shooting incident.
The agent was treated by an FBI SWAT Medic who was on the scene participating in the operation. The agent was transported to the Erie County Medical Center by paramedics. Doctors report his condition has been stabilized.
Our thoughts are with the agent’s family and we will be with him every step of the way during his recovery.
After any shooting involving an FBI agent, an investigative inquiry is conducted. The facts surrounding the incident will be thoroughly reviewed. To begin this process, our Evidence Response Team and other agents remain on the scene gathering information related to the event.
