Augusta Man Pleads Guilty to Pharmacy Robbery

BANGOR, ME—United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty, II announced that Anthony William Post, 19, who had been residing in Auburn, but staying for a brief time in Augusta, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court to robbery of a CVS pharmacy in Augusta. The charges stem from a robbery that occurred on January 22, 2013. According to court records, Post handed a pharmacy technician a note that read: “Quickly & calmly put all oxycodone in bag if not I have a gun & will start shooting no scene!” As a result, he was given several bottles containing $500 worth of oxycodone, and he fled. In fact, no firearm was possessed or used.

Following the robbery, Post’s photograph appeared in the news and several witnesses came forward and identified him. On January 24, 2013, Post was arrested in Augusta by detectives with the Augusta Police Department (APD) and turned over to special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for prosecution.

Post faces a sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, and restitution. Post has been detained in federal custody since his arrest on January 24, 2013. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the United States Probation Office.

U.S. Attorney Delahanty praised the cooperation between the APD and the FBI during the joint investigation.
