Swanzey Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

CONCORD, NH—Daniel Mark Lavalley, 30 of Swanzey, pleaded guilty today to robbing the TD Bank located on Court Street in Keene on July 11, 2011, announced United States Attorney John P. Kacavas.

According to documents that were filed in United States District Court, Lavalley entered the bank at approximately 10:45 a.m. and presented a note to a teller demanding money and stating that if the teller cooperated, no one would get hurt. The teller provided Lavalley with a sum of United States currency, and he was last observed leaving the area of the bank on foot. Images obtained from the bank’s security system and nearby convenience stores were obtained by law enforcement officials and compared to known images of Lavalley. The images from the bank were also shown to a relative of Lavalley, who positively identified the robber as Lavalley.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the United States District Court. Lavalley faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, followed by a period of supervised release. Under the advisory federal sentencing guidelines, however, Lavalley is likely to serve less than the statutory maximum sentence. The case was investigated by the Keene Police Department. That department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted the United States Attorney’s Office in prosecuting the case.
