New York Man Sentenced for Distributing Heroin

BOSTON—A New York man was sentenced today in federal court for drug distribution.
Christian Biancardi, 38, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Michael Ponsor to 10 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. On December 16, 2010, Biancardi pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute heroin.
From 2008 until March 2009, Biancardi supplied John Alicea-Burgos with over 10 kilograms of heroin. Alicea-Burgos and other co-conspirators then distributed the heroin in Springfield and Holyoke.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Kevin L. Lane, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration-New England Field Division; and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Boston Field Division, made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin O’Regan and Paul H. Smyth of Ortiz’s Springfield Office.
