Bridgewater Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

BOSTON—A Bridgewater man was charged today in federal court with receipt and possession of child pornography.

Kevini J. Balzarini, 36, was charged in an indictment with receipt and possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that on various dates in 2011 and 2012, Balzarini received visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment further alleges that on or about August 28, 2012, Balzarini possessed additional child pornography.

If convicted, Balzarini faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison on the receipt of child pornography charge and up to 10 years in prison on the possession of child pornography charge. Balzarini also faces up to a lifetime of supervised release and a $500,000 fine on each count.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eve A. Piemonte Stacey of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood.
