LaGrange Man Sentenced for Transporting Child Pornography

BANGOR, ME—United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Lawrence Labbe, 46, of LaGrange, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Bangor, by Chief Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr., to six years of imprisonment ,to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. Labbe pled guilty on February 25, 2011 to unlawfully transporting child pornography in interstate commerce using a computer.
Court records reveal that a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Cybercrimes Task Force in Detroit, Michigan participated in an undercover online chat with Labbe in July of 2009 during which Labbe transmitted 20 images of child pornography to the undercover agent. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents learned through further investigation that Labbe resided in LaGrange, Maine, and was the person who sent the images to the undercover agent. ICE agents secured a search warrant for Labbe’s residence and discovered more than 400 images of child pornography on Labbe’s computer.
The investigation was conducted jointly by ICE, the FBI Cybercrimes Task Force, and the Macomb County, Michigan, Sheriff’s Office.
