Bourne Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Bank Robbery

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 26, 2011
  • District of Massachusetts (617) 748-3100

BOSTON—A Bourne man pled guilty today in federal court to two counts of armed bank robbery.

BRYAN MILEIKIS, 24, of Bourne, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris to the June 1, 2010 armed robbery of the TD Bank located at 2 Market Crossing in Plymouth and the June 4, 2010 armed robbery of the Sovereign Bank located at 715 State Road in Plymouth.

According to information provided by the prosecutor at the plea hearing, MILEIKIS entered the TD Bank on June 1, 2010 armed with what appeared to be a handgun, but which later investigation showed to be a flare gun. MILEIKIS approached a teller and demanded money. The teller gave MILEIKIS $2,705 in U.S. currency, and he then fled from the bank. On June 4, 2010, MILEIKIS entered the Sovereign Bank, again, armed with what appeared to be a handgun but which later proved to be a flare gun. MILEIKIS demanded money from two tellers and fled with $7,330 in U.S. currency. Police used a canine to follow a trail from the bank to a nearby residential road, where a resident had taken note of the make and license plate number of a vehicle that had been parked there. Police stopped the car later that day near the Bourne Rotary and MILEIKIS, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested.

Judge Saris scheduled sentencing for July 11, 2011. MILEIKIS faces up to 25 years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine on each of the two counts.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Division; Colonel Marian McGovern, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police; and Chief Michael E. Botieri of the Plymouth Police Department made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert E. Richardson of the U.S. Attorney’s Major Crimes Unit.
