U.S. Attorney’s Office March 11, 2010
  • District of Massachusetts (617) 748-3100

BOSTON, MA—A Ware man was sentenced today in federal court for Unlawful Manufacturing of Explosive Materials without a License and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Glenn N. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division; Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Division; Kathryn A. Feeney, Resident Agent in Charge of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, New Haven Resident Office; and Robert Bethel, Postal Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, announced today that ABRAHAM FORISH, age 38, of Ware, Massachusetts, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ponsor to 24 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release. The defendant pleaded guilty to Unlawful Manufacturing of Explosive Materials without a License and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon on December 10, 2009.

At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that FORISH possessed numerous rounds of varying calibers of ammunition after having been convicted of a felony. FORISH also manufactured the explosive material triacetone triperoxide (TATP) without a license.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Ortiz's Springfield Branch Unit.
