Citizen of Poland Sentenced to 35 Months After Pleading Guilty to Fraud Charges

CONCORD, NH—United States Attorney John P. Kacavas announced today that Adrian Fijolek, 23, was sentenced to 35 months in prison.

From November 2007 to July 2008, Fijolek did the following:

  • Used personal identifying information that belonged to two other people to obtain four credit credits which he used to conduct fraudulent retail credit transactions totaling more $130,000;
  • Used false information related to his personal creditworthiness to obtain two credit cards which he used to conduct fraudulent retail credit transactions totaling more than $300,000;
  • Opened personal bank accounts at People’s United Bank (formerly Ocean Bank), Digital Credit Union and GE Money Bank which he deposited valueless checks totaling more than $23,000 to the accounts and used the falsely inflated balance of the accounts for his personal benefit;
  • Used false information regarding his personal creditworthiness to obtain fraudulent automobile loans totaling more than $110,000 from Toyota Financial Services, Inc., which were applied to his purchase of a 2004 Volvo XC90, a 2006 Audi and a 2006 Landrover; and,
  • Used credit card information associated with five different credit cards to conduct fictitious and fraudulent retail credit sales totaling more than $106,000 for a company he owned in Londonderry, New Hampshire called Awake Apparel.

Last February, Fijolek pleaded guilty to using unauthorized credit cards, bank fraud, wire fraud and mail fraud. After Fijolek’s prison sentence is completed, he will be deported to his native country, Poland.

The case was investigated by the Derry Police Department, the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Robert M. Kinsella.
