Springfield Man Convicted of Receiving and Possessing Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office October 27, 2009
  • District of Massachusetts (617) 748-3100

BOSTON, MA—A Springfield man was convicted yesterday in federal court of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks; Robert Malaby, Inspector In Charge of the United States Postal Inspection Service; Bruce M. Foucart, Special Agent In Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Office of Investigations in Boston; and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent In Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that BRIAN WILKERSON, age 38, of Springfield, Massachusetts, pled guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to four counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

At the plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that on or about August 29, 2005, WILKERSON received, through the mail, a video file containing a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct which he ordered over the Internet from the website youngvideomodels.net. On September 7, 2008, WILKERSON received, over the Internet, three additional digital files containing a visual depiction of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Lastly, on September 16, 2008, WILKERSON possessed computers and computer media which contained other visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Judge Ponsor scheduled sentencing for February 11, 2009. If convicted, WILKERSON faces up to 20 years in prison to be followed by up to life on supervised release and a $250,000 fine on each of the receipt of child pornography charges. On the possession of child pornography charge, WILKERSON faces up to 10 years in prison to be followed by up to life on supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of Loucks’ Springfield Branch Office.
