BOSTON, MA—A Peabody man appeared today in U.S. District Court to face a charge of armed bank robbery.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation -Boston Field Division, announced today that BRYAN F. FEBONIO, age 41, of Peabody, was charged in a criminal complaint with armed bank robbery.

The complaint alleges that on September 18, 2009, BRYAN FEBONIO, and another unknown individual, entered the Sovereign Bank on Andover Street in Peabody, MA. Once inside the bank, they each brandished firearms and ordered the tellers to empty their cash drawers. They subsequently left the bank and fled the scene. On Tuesday September 22, 2009, FEBONIO was located at a motel in New Hampshire by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he was arrested without incident.

If convicted on this charge, FEBONIO faces up to 25 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, restitution, and five years of supervised release. A detention hearing has been scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Loucks’ Major Crimes Unit.

The details contained in the complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
