U.S. Attorney’s Office September 22, 2009
  • District of Massachusetts (617) 748-3100

BOSTON, MA—A Springfield man pleaded guilty today in federal court for possessing child pornography.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that JULIO RAMOS, age 46, of Springfield, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to Possession of Child Pornography.

At today’s plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that Ramos had obtained and possessed child pornography from the Internet using a computer between January and March of 2007. The prosecutor told the Court that agents discovered 109 video files containing child pornography on a computer used by RAMOS.

Judge Ponsor scheduled sentencing for January 13, 2010. RAMOS faces up to 10 years imprisonment, to be followed by life on supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Loucks’ Springfield Branch Unit.
