  • District of Massachusetts (617) 748-3100

SPRINGFIELD, MA—A Bernardston man was convicted today in federal court of Possession of Child Pornography. United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that TYLER HELBIG, age 19, of Mountain Road, Bernardston, Massachusetts, pled guilty before U.S. District Judge Ponsor to Possession of Child Pornography.

At today's plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government's evidence would have proven that on or about March 14, 2008, the defendant possessed at least 30 images of child pornography on his computer.

Judge Ponsor is expected to schedule sentencing for May 2009. HELBIG faces up to 10 years imprisonment, to be followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Sullivan’s Springfield Branch Office Unit.
