  • District of New Hampshire (603) 225-1552

CONCORD, NH—U.S. Attorney Tom Colantuono today reported that two Manchester residents, Jamie Hrycuna DOB 9/2/72 and Jason Bond DOB 2/20/87 both of 599 Union Street, Manchester, were arrested yesterday afternoon, January 5, 2009, by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and charged with conspiracy and theft of firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer.

The defendants allegedly stole approximately 70 firearms from a dealer in New Ipswich, New Hampshire on January 4, 2009 and transported them to their residence at 599 Union Street in Manchester. Agents of the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force developed information about the thefts which led them to obtain a search warrant from U.S. District Court in Concord yesterday afternoon to search for the firearms at the 599 Union Street location.

With the assistance of the Manchester Police Department’s SWAT team, the defendants were arrested at the residence prior to the search, which led to the discovery of the firearms in the basement area of the residence.

The defendants appeared for an arraignment on complaints charging them with violation of 18 U.S. Code 371 (conspiracy), 18 U.S. Code 922(j) (possession of stolen firearms), and 18 U.S. Code 922 (u) (theft of firearms), at 1:30 p.m. today at the U.S. District Court in Concord, New Hampshire. They were detained pending a further hearing on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The defendants are facing possible sentences of up to ten years in prison and fines of up to $250,000, if convicted.

U.S. Attorney Colantuono thanked the following agencies for their excellent work in bringing this investigation to a speedy conclusion: the Federal Bureau of Investigation and its New Hampshire Anti-Gang Safe Streets Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Manchester Police Department, the New Hampshire State Police, the New Ipswich Police Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole.

The FBI Anti-Gang Safe Streets Task Force operates as part of New Hampshire’s Project Safe Neighborhoods, a Department of Justice - sponsored program to combat gun crime and violence with aggressive investigation and prosecutions through a cooperative task force approach involving federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies.

A criminal complaint is only an allegation and not proof of criminal conduct. As in all criminal cases, defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
