Huntsville Man Indicted for Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

BIRMINGHAM—A federal grand jury today indicted a Huntsville man for the Sept. 2 robbery of Wells Fargo bank in Huntsville, U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and FBI Special Agent in Charge Patrick J. Maley announced.
An indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges TRAYVON DESHAWN HARRIS, 24, with robbing the Wells Fargo branch on South Memorial Parkway of about $4,500.
“The bank robber in this case tried to conceal his identity by dressing as a woman, but images of the robber shown on television helped Huntsville Police quickly make an arrest,” Vance said. “When the community and law enforcement work together, criminals usually lose.”
Harris could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each bank robbery count.
The FBI and the Huntsville Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Penfield is prosecuting the case.
Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
