BIRMINGHAM—Acting Special Agent in Charge (A/SAC) Charles E. Regan announced that  Andre Wallace, 32, and Jawana Jackson, 23, were stopped and held by the Birmingham Police Department at approximately 8:37 p.m. on April 14, 2009,  in the 1700 block of Jefferson Avenue in Birmingham. Members of the FBI’s Violent Crimes/Gang Safe Streets Task Force, which include officers from the Bessemer Police Department arrested Wallace and Jackson later that evening. Neither Wallace nor Jackson were armed at the time of the stop or arrest.

It is alleged that Wallace entered RBC Bank, located at 1719 4th Avenue, Bessemer, Alabama just before noon on April 13, 2009, fired a shot into the air as he entered the bank and demanded money. No one was injured. Wallace left the bank in a vehicle driven by Jackson.

Currently, both are being held in the Bessemer City Jail on unrelated charges relating to the robbery of Bob’s Storage in Bessemer, Alabama on March 16, 2009.

A/SAC Regan expressed his thanks to both the Birmingham and Bessemer Police Departments for their invaluable assistance in this matter.
