Montevallo Woman Pleads Guilty to Producing Child Pornography

BIRMINGHAM, AL—CHRISTINE STAGGS MCKIM, 24, of Montevallo, Alabama, plead guilty in U.S. District Court for Producing Child Pornography.

According to the Indictment, Plea Agreement, and statements given at the plea hearing, JAMES SHAWN HULSEY and CHRISTINE STAGGS MCKIM, produced images of child pornography that depicted a female child, who was only months old, and a male child, who was less than two years old being used to engage in sexually explicit conduct with the defendants. In addition, HULSEY previously plead guilty to sixteen (16) counts of production of child pornography, and on December 9, 2008, was sentenced to 480 years imprisonment.

“The sentence Mr. Hulsey received, and the sentence Ms. McKim will ultimately receive is gratification to those of us who fight so hard to stop the exploitation of these innocent children,” stated U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin.

MCKIM faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years imprisonment up to a maximum of 30 years imprisonment for each count of Production of Child Pornography. MCKIM plead guilty to fifteen (15) counts. Her sentencing has been scheduled for June 29, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.

This matter was investigated by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant District Attorney Timothy Evans, for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, has provided valuable assistance. Assistant United States Attorneys Daniel J. Fortune and Laura Hodge are prosecuting this case on behalf of the U.S. Government.
