Mollie Halpern: An up to $5,000 reward is available for information leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl.

Jose Arturo Navarrete, Jr. allegedly committed the crime in Sacramento County, California.

FBI Special Agent John Ogden…

John Ogden: Of all the crimes we deal with, this is one of the most serious because the victim is young and innocent. It’s a high priority for the FBI to bring those who perpetrate those crimes to justice.

Halpern: Navarrete has ties to Mexico, New Mexico, and the Midland and Odessa areas of Texas.

His appearance changes.

Ogden: He sometimes wears a short beard or a goatee, sometimes clean shaven. Weight can fluctuate a little bit, too, so maybe he’s a little bit skinnier in the face at one time, a little bit heavier at another.

Halpern: Navarrete is a welder’s assistant and may look for a way to support himself while on the run.

Ogden: He has worked in the oil/energy industry as a day laborer having some basic skills but most likely if he seeks employment, it’s going to be some sort of entry-level, hands-on laborer type of work.

Halpern: If you have information about this case, dial 1-800-CALL-FBI or report tips online at tips.fbi.gov.

Ogden: If you know where Jose Navarrete is, please give us a call. Even the smallest details you may have about his whereabouts can be helpful.

Halpern: With Wanted by the FBI, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
