Mollie Halpern: The FBI’s Victim Assistance Rapid Deployment Team and Crisis Response Canines are providing support and resources to the victims and responders of the Orlando mass shooting.
FBI victim specialists are helping victims, their families, and witnesses cope with the impact of the crime at the recently opened Family Assistance Center in Orlando.
FBI Director James Comey offered his condolences…
Director James Comey: Our hearts are broken and ache for the people who were lost in Orlando, those wounded, and their families. We are so sorry for your loss and your suffering.
Halpern: Director Comey thanked and expressed admiration to local law enforcement and other first responders, medical professionals, …
Comey: …and the ordinary citizens who stopped to help family and friends. You showed us the best part of humanity in the midst of terrible loss.
Halpern: Director Comey also offered words of encouragement.
Comey: We hope that our fellow Americans will not let fear become disabling, because that is what these savages want. We hope that instead, you will channel this sense of anxiety into something more positive, which is an awareness of your surroundings and the seeking of opportunities to help your fellow Americans
Halpern: The FBI is investigating the Pulse nightclub mass shooting around the clock.
Comey: If you see something, tell us so we can look at it. In every single one of our cases, as we look back, somebody always sees something that they should have told us and they didn't.
Halpern: Report tips to your local FBI office or online at tips.fbi.gov. With FBI, This Week, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
