Fugitive Bank Robber Arrested

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) J. Britt Johnson, FBI Atlanta, in conjunction with Police Chief J.W. Conroy, Dekalb County Police Department, announces the arrest of an armed bank robber believed responsible for at least two metro Atlanta area bank robbers.

Lewis Jones, age 35, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested Friday, January 8, 2016, by FBI agents and officers of the Atlanta Police Department at a residence in the 2300 block of Cobb Parkway in the Marietta/Smyrna area of metro Atlanta.

Jones is charged by Dekalb County Police for his role in the August 12, 2014 armed robbery of the Navy Federal Credit Union, located at 2740 Briarcliff Road in Atlanta/Dekalb Co., Georgia. He is also considered a suspect in a September 9, 2014 armed robbery of the Regions Bank, located at 1650 Cumberland Parkway in Smyrna, Georgia.

At the time of his arrest, Jones was in the company of Abigail Lee Kemp, who was also arrested by federal agents on a separate federal criminal complaint issued out of the Northern District of Florida.

Jones is currently being detained at the Dekalb County Detention Facility.
