FBI to Host Memorial Ceremony to Honor Fallen Special Agent Ben Grogan

On Monday, April 11, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., the Brunswick, Georgia Resident Agency of the FBI will host a memorial ceremony in honor of slain FBI Special Agent Benjamin P. Grogan at the Palmetto Cemetery, located at 3412 Ross Road in Brunswick, Georgia.

Thirty years ago, on April 11, 1986, Special Agent Grogan was killed in the line of duty in Miami, Florida during a shootout with serial armed bank robbers. Also killed was fellow Special Agent Jerry Dove. Three other agents were seriously wounded.

To honor the memory of Special Agent Grogan on the anniversary of his death, several FBI officials, to include the Atlanta Division special agent in charge and Chief U.S. Federal Court Judge Lisa Godbey Wood, and others, will speak on Grogan’s sacrifice and the events that day. Several family members of Special Agent Grogan will also attend and plan to speak.
