Man Arrested in Connection with Robbery of Coastal Bank Branch in Savannah

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Mark F. Giuliano, FBI Atlanta, announces the following arrest regarding yesterday’s robbery of the Coastal Bank in Savannah, Georgia.

On Thursday, July 11, 2013, a lone black male entered the Coastal Bank branch located at 18 West Bryan Street in Savannah, Georgia, and handed the bank teller a demand note stating that he had a gun. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the robber departed the bank without further incident.

Officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police, as well as FBI agents based in Savannah, saturated the area in search of the robber.

On Friday, July 12, 2013, FBI agents from the Savannah, Georgia Resident Agency charged Kevin Obiuyi Edosomwan, age 26, of Savannah, Georgia, via federal criminal complaint, with violation of Title 18 USC 2113, bank robbery, in connection with the above July 11, 2013 robbery of the Coastal Bank, Savannah, Georgia.

Edosomwan is currently in custody and was afforded his initial appearance in front of a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Savannah this morning.

The public should be reminded the the above are merely allegations and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
