FBI Seeks Public’s Assistance to Locate Suspect in Robberies

Updated July 22, 2013: Artavius Brown was arrested on Friday, July 19, 2013, in the Thomasville Heights area of Atlanta by officers of the Atlanta Police Department. He was transferred to federal custody on July 20, 2013.

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Mark F. Giuliano, FBI Atlanta, requests the public’s assistance in locating the following individual who is believed to be responsible for 24 robberies of Atlanta-area Family Dollar stores and is now charged federally with the June 21, 2013 armed robbery of the PNC Bank in Tucker, Georgia.

On Friday, June 21, 2013, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a lone black male entered the PNC Bank located at 2355 main Street, Tucker, Georgia, and initially advised the teller that he wanted to cash a check. After placing a book bag on the teller counter, the individual instead pulled out a handgun and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the robber then departed the bank without further incident.

On Friday, July 5, 2013, a federal criminal complaint and arrest warrant was obtained for Artavius Marcellus Brown, age 23, of Atlanta, Georgia, charging him with violation of Title 18 USC 2113 (a) and (d) and Title 18 USC 924 (c), armed bank robbery, in connection with the above robbery.

Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta is offering a reward of up to $7,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of Artavius Marcellus Brown.

The public should be reminded that the above are merely allegations and that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
