ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Brian D. Lamkin, along with Dekalb County Police Chief W. O’Brien, requests the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the serial bank robber believed to now be responsible for seven bank robberies occurring in Dekalb County, Georgia between July 11, 2011 and May 7, 2012.

Beginning on July 11, 2011 at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1815 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain in Georgia, a serial bank robber began targeting banks in Dekalb County. To date, this individual is believed by law enforcement authorities to be responsible for seven bank robberies within a very defined area of the county.

Each of these robberies occurred in a similar fashion. Witnesses described a black male suspect wearing a baseball cap entering these banks, waiting in the customer line, and then approaching an open teller window, usually while talking on a cell phone. The robber then presents the teller with a demand note that threatens a gun. No weapon has been displayed to date, however, in any of the robberies. After receiving money from the teller, the robber flees the bank.

The most recent robbery occurred on Monday May 7, 2012 at approximately 4:07 p.m. A black male suspect wearing a black ball cap approached the teller at the SunTrust Bank located inside the Publix grocery store at 3870 North Druid Hills Road in Decatur, Georgia. The robber presented a demand note to the teller, threatening he would shoot the teller. No weapon was displayed during the robbery. However, the suspect fled the bank without obtaining any money. The robber was observed getting into the driver’s side of a red 1990s model Buick or Oldsmobile with an unknown Georgia license plate number. The vehicle had been parked behind the grocery store and was last seen exiting the parking lot onto Mistletoe Road.

The robber is described as a black male, dark complexion, ranging in age from late 20s to early 40s, 6’00” to 6’02” tall, medium build, short black hair, and having a noticeable gap in his front teeth. During the May 7 robbery, he wore a plain black ball cap, white Sean John T-shirt, and dark pants.
