Safe Child Task Force Arrests Child Predator

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge Gregory Jones, FBI Atlanta, announces the following arrest conducted by the FBI’s Safe Child Task Force.

On Wednesday, September 02, 2009, Mark Michael Stevens, age 42, of Marietta, Georgia, was arrested without incident in Sandy Springs, Georgia on federal child exploitation charges.

Stevens, who is employed at an Atlanta-based realty company, was arrested after he arrived at a pre-arranged location to meet with what he thought would be a minor child for purposes of having sex. Stevens will have an initial appearance this afternoon at the Richard B. Russell Federal Courthouse, Atlanta, Georgia.

The Safe Child Task Force consists of FBI agents as well as officers from Alpharetta Police Department, Lawrenceville Police Department, Sandy Springs Police Department, Roswell Police Department, Johns Creek Police Department, Tyrone Police Department, and Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

The public is reminded that all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
