Anchorage Felon Pleads Guilty to Illegal Possession of Firearms

ANCHORAGE, AK—United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today that an Anchorage man pled guilty in federal court in Anchorage to being a felon in possession of firearms.
On December 1, 2010, John T. Douglass, Jr., 31, of Anchorage, pled guilty before United States District Judge H. Russel Holland.
In June 2010, Douglass was indicted by a federal grand jury for two firearms crimes stemming from his arrest by the Anchorage Police Department, for violating state probation conditions. Douglass was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of two shotguns, and one count of illegally possessing a sawed-off shotgun. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Douglass agreed to plead guilty to possessing the two shotguns. There is no agreement as to the sentence to be imposed.
Sentencing has been set for March 3, 2010 in Anchorage. Douglass has two prior felony convictions, one for armed robbery in 2001 and another for burglary of a dwelling in 1998. He will remain in custody pending imposition of sentence.
The FBI, ATF, and APD participated in the investigation.
