  • District of Alaska (907) 271-5071

ANCHORAGE—Acting United States Attorney Kevin Feldis announced that on May 15, 2009, Nicholas J. Singleton, a resident of Fairbanks, Alaska, was sentenced to a term of 141 months in prison, five years’ supervised release, and restitution for his armed robbery of the Key Bank in December 2008.

Judge Ralph R. Beistline imposed the sentence on Singleton, age 23.

According to the information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly Sayers-Fay, who prosecuted the case, Singleton robbed a Fairbanks Key Bank branch at gunpoint on December 18, 2008. At one point during the robbery, Singleton shoved his gun in a customer’s rib cage to induce compliance. Law enforcement officers later learned that Singleton’s gun was loaded with hollow-point bullets. Singleton will forfeit his interest in this firearm.

The Fairbanks Police Department, Alaska State Troopers, and FBI conducted the investigation that led to the apprehension and prosecution of Singleton.
