Anchorage Man Sentenced to Eight Years in Federal Prison for Selling Crack

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 16, 2009
  • District of Alaska (907) 271-5071

ANCHORAGE—United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today, April 16, 2009, that William Anthony White, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 96 months in prison for distributing crack cocaine.

United States District Court Judge Ralph Beistline imposed the sentence on White, age 21.

According to information presented to the court by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christine M. Thoreson, White sold a total of 88.3 grams of crack to an undercover cooperator over three occasions in September 2007.

Before imposing the sentence, Judge Beistline noted that White had a criminal history, including a prior felony drug charge. Judge Beistline also encouraged White to find a legal way to supplement his income, and to completely and sincerely disassociate himself from drugs in order to become a law-abiding citizen upon release from prison.

Ms. Loeffler commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force, comprised of Anchorage police officers and FBI agents, for the investigation leading to the sentence in this case. SAUSA Thoreson is one of two prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who are funded by the Municipality of Anchorage for the purpose of prosecuting gang-related and violent crime cases.
