Robbery of Bank of the West in Albuquerque

A masked man wearing a black winter jacket robbed a Bank of the West branch in northeast Albuquerque before fleeing in a blue SUV on Friday, May 20.

The suspect is a Hispanic male in his mid- to late-20s and approximately 5’4” to 5’5” tall.

He wore a black winter jacket, a light-colored cloth over his face, blue jeans, dark gloves, and light-colored shoes.

At approximately 12:33 p.m., the suspect entered the bank located at 780 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE and verbally demanded money from a teller.

The suspect handed a light-colored plastic bag to the teller, who put an undisclosed amount of money in it.

The suspect left the bank with the money and got into a blue SUV driven by a young Hispanic male with a moustache.

The FBI may pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of a bank robber.

Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun, or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
