Masked Man Robs Bank of Albuquerque

An armed man who wore a mask that covered most of his face robbed the Bank of Albuquerque branch located at 4201 Wyoming Blvd NE, in Albuquerque, on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7” tall, in his 20s or 30s, with a medium build and brown eyes.

He wore a black mask that covered most of his face except for his eyes, a zippered black hooded sweatshirt, light-colored shorts with cargo pockets, and white, black, and red athletic shoes.

The suspect carried a black bag with a drawstring. There was orange and white writing or a logo on the bag. Surveillance photos from the robbery are below.

Witnesses say the suspect entered the bank at approximately 9:20 a.m. He pointed a gray or black handgun at a teller as he ordered a customer to move aside. The suspect demanded money from the teller, who gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is believed to have walked north on Wyoming Boulevard after leaving the bank.

Bank robbery is punishable by a 20-year prison sentence for each offense, and the penalty increases if a dangerous weapon is used in the commission of the crime.
