Man Robs BBVA Compass Bank Branch in Albuquerque

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a man who robbed the BBVA Compass Bank branch located at 12001 Sierra Grande Ave. NE, in Albuquerque, on Friday (9/12/2014).

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male in his 20s, approximately 5’7” to 5’10” tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with a slender to medium build.

He wore a black hoodie with a small gray skull design on the chest, gray or blue jeans, and black sneakers with white soles.

The suspect’s face was covered by a dark towel or bandana.


Witnesses said the man entered the bank at approximately 9:09 a.m. and pointed what appeared to be a small black semi-automatic handgun at a teller.

The suspect demanded money from the teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man may have gotten into a light-colored Dodge extended cab pickup truck with black rims and a turquoise New Mexico license plate.

The vehicle was parked across the street outside a shopping center.

The truck may have headed west on Sierra Grande Avenue NE, toward Juan Tabo Boulevard NE.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call the FBI (24 hours) at 505-889-1300.

The FBI may pay a reward of to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
