FBI Offers $2,000 Reward in Albuquerque Pipe Bombs Case

The FBI is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a series of pipe bomb explosions in northeast Albuquerque.

The explosions occurred between October 2013 and March 2014.

Although no injuries or substantial property damage has occurred, the FBI takes these incidents seriously because pipe bombs are dangerous weapons.

The pipe bombs exploded in or near trash receptacles.

Three of the pipe bombs were placed in city parks in northeast Albuquerque. Another was placed in a parking lot, and a fifth exploded behind a business.

Two vehicles matching the following descriptions were seen in the vicinity of the bombs: a silver, two-door sports-type vehicle with a spoiler and a turquoise-colored New Mexico license plate on the back; and a white, 1990s model four-door sedan.

Additionally, a pair of black sunglasses was recovered at the scene of one of the bombs.

The Albuquerque Police Department is assisting with this investigation.

Anybody with information about these incidents is asked to call the FBI in Albuquerque at (505) 889-1300 (24 hours).
