FBI Albuquerque July 08, 2013
  • Public Affairs Specialist Frank Fisher (505) 889-1438

The FBI, U.S. Postal inspectors, and state and local authorities are investigating two suspicious letters that were received at Governor Susana Martinez’s office in Santa Fe on Monday, July 8, 2013.

One letter contained a white powder substance. The other was unopened.

At this point, field tests have been negative.

Additional testing will be conducted at local laboratories.

Other responding agencies included New Mexico State Police, Santa Fe Fire Department, and 64th Civil Support Team.

Even sending a hoax letter is a serious crime.

Anyone with information about these letters is asked to contact the FBI in Albuquerque (505-889-1300), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, or local authorities.
