Two Arrested in Connection with Human Trafficking Investigation

The FBI arrested two southern New Mexico residents Monday, March 4, 2013, in connection with a human trafficking investigation.

Tu My Tong, also known as Sophia Tong, 56, of Ruidoso, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport following her arrival on a international flight.

Daniel Cuellar, 50, of Ruidoso Downs, was arrested in Ruidoso Downs.

Cuellar is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Las Cruces on Tuesday.

A court date for Tong, a Ruidoso business owner, has not been set.

The FBI was assisted in the investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement; U.S. Border Patrol; the Ruidoso Police Department; and the Ruidoso Downs Police Department.

Further details of the investigation will not be released until after the individuals’ court appearances.
