Officer-Related Shooting Under Investigation on Navajo Indian Reservation

The FBI, New Mexico State Police, and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are investigating an officer-related shooting that occurred in Shiprock on Friday night (August 16, 2013).

Navajo Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment complex at approximately 9:30 p.m.

An altercation ensued.

A man was shot but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

An officer suffered stab wounds to the foot.

The identities of the injured are not being released at this time.

No further details will be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
