Jesus Romero, 46, of Alamogordo, has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery that occurred at First National Bank, 414 10th Street, Alamogordo, on Tuesday night.

Romero is expected to appear in federal court in Las Cruces on Thursday.

Alamogordo Department of Public Safety officers and FBI special agents arrested Romero shortly after the robbery. They were assisted by the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police, and Department of Transportation.

Witnesses say a man went to the walk-up window of the bank’s drive-through section at about 5:50 p.m. He gave a teller an envelope that said he had a bomb.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money.
