Albany Man Charged with Distributing Child Pornography

ALBANY, NY—United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian; Clifford C. Holly, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany Division; and Joseph D’Amico, Superintendent of New York State Police, announce the filing of a criminal complaint charging JUSTIN GERO, age 30, of Albany, New York, with distributing child pornography, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A(a)(2). The complaint charges that between about June 2010 and December, 2010, GERO knowingly distributed images of child pornography. If found guilty, the defendant faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years, and a maximum fine of $250,000.00.

GERO had his initial appearance in Albany on April 15, 2011 before the Honorable Randolph F. Treece, United States Magistrate Judge. GERO was released on conditions.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York State Police. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Belliss.
