Thomas Seiler

External Audit and Compliance Section Chief

Thomas G. Seiler was selected as the section chief of the External Audit and Compliance Section (EACS), FBI Inspection Division (INSD), in April 2020.

Mr. Seiler began his FBI career in the Security Division, where he supported the periodic reinvestigation program as well as various checks regarding status changes for employees. 

In 2004, Mr. Seiler accepted a position at the Washington Field Office, where he worked in the Command and Tactical Operations Center. 

In 2006, Mr. Seiler transferred to the Terrorist Screening Center, now known as the Threat Screening Center. He fielded calls from law enforcement, the National Targeting Center, and various FBI divisions to vet potential hits against the Terrorist Screening Database. 

In 2010, Mr. Seiler was promoted to the management and program analyst position within INSD. His first assignment was in the External Audit Management Unit (EAMU), where he worked closely with the Government Accountability Office, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), as well as various FBI divisions to facilitate audits, reviews, and inspections. Mr. Seiler was promoted to unit chief of EAMU in 2014. During his tenure, he was responsible for the FBI’s response for numerous high-profile audits and reviews, to include the DOJ OIG’s Review of Various Actions by the FBI and DOJ in Advance of the 2016 Election and Review of Four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation, as well as several special reviews headed by United States Attorneys.

Mr. Seiler became the acting section chief of EACS in January 2020 and was promoted into the ranks of the senior executive service when he accepted the permanent section chief role in April 2020. In addition, Mr. Seiler currently acts as the responsible executive for the FBI’s Office of Internal Auditing.
